homework week of 11/17

Here is what should be in from last week:
curious incident essay, rough draft and video notes
journals 5-10

Make sure you have passed both these assignments in because they are very important!

We are taking an accuplacer test on Friday. This will take all period. As a result, your vocabulary quiz on the grav and lev words will be on Tuesday, December 2nd.

Your homework for the week:
Make sure you reach the weekly goal you set for yourself on Monday. You should read at home for at least 20 minutes each night, even if you are on target or ahead of your goal. Your book will be due on Friday, December 5th. Many of you will read more than one book in this time period.

Choose which graphic organizer makes most sense in your packet. You should have half of it done by the end of block day this week.

Study for vocabulary quiz on lev/grav

We'll begin the final assessment for this book when you return from Thanksgiving break.

homework week of 11/10

Monday: You should have your in class essay completed and turned in today along with rough draft, video notes and graphic organizers.
The quiz scheduled for today has been postponed to block day. Study PROB and CRIM words
Make sure you have an independent reading book for block day.
Tuesday: no school
Block day: Read for 15 minutes or to reach daily goal. Begin work on map and packet. Study GRAV words. Informal assessment on Friday. (Think crossword puzzle!)
Friday: Read for 15 minutes or to reach daily goal.

homework for week of 11/3

Our major work of the week will focus on an in-class essay, due Friday, 11/7. We'll draft it in the computer lab on block day and Friday and I'll give you specific feedback as you work. You will also be required to have at least one peer look at one of your paragraphs as well. In addition, here are the assignments for the week:

Monday: Complete journal #9: Using your purpose question from the Video Notes on Rain Man, write a summarizing paragraph, answering the purpose question: In what ways are Christopher and Raymond alike? different?

Write parts of speech for PROB/PROV and CRIM on a post-it note or in pencil in your book.

Tuesday: Complete quizzes A and B in vocabulary book, p. 11. Find 5 facts about autism.

Block day: study for vocabulary quiz: PROB/PROV and CRIM words. Quiz on Monday.

Friday: Vocab quiz on Monday
